Level 1:  Pop, Rock, and Latin Line Dancing

Designed for beginners who have good balance, spatial awareness, the ability to move comfortably on the dance floor and to work from both visual and voice cues.  This is an ongoing class, and new members may join at any time.  Most of the dances will have already been studied by the class, so the ability to quickly acclimate and memorize 32-count patterns is important.  Level 1 classes have slightly different content based on location.  For the most precise and current information on how the Level 1 (Beginner) classes compare to each other in terms of difficulty, please consider signing up for the Monthly Newsletter.  In each issue you'll find a "snapshot" of course levels for the coming month.

Level 2 Prep:  Pop, Rock, and Latin Line Dancing - restart May 7

Courses are six months long and start on the first Thursday every sixth month

Level 2:  Pop, Rock, and Latin Line Dancing

Designed for students who have taken 6 months of Level 2 Prep (or the equivalent).  Dances are briefly taught or reviewed.  Elements used in Levels 1 through Level 2 Prep are featured so this class is only suitable for dancers who are familiar with the elements taught in the lower levels.  Dancers enrolled in this level will spend most of the class time dancing previously learned material, with new dances periodically integrated into the rotation.  Students new to this level must either know the current set of dances or have the ability to pick up material very quickly during the brief review of each dance prior to dancing it.

Level 3:  Pop, Rock, and Latin Line Dancing

Designed for students who are familiar with all of the elements in previous levels.  Students enrolling in this level should have good balance, poise, and spatial awareness.  Timing variations are key in this level, including the ability to hear and feel the difference in dance rhythms and to perform holds and syncopations.  Students should be able to pick up new step patterns with ease and be able to cope with multiple direction changes and turning options.  Please contact Karen for information on how to join this class.

Monday mornings,  8:30 - 9:15 am

Cost (Level 1, Level 2 Prep, Level 2 and Level 3):

One class per week: $4.00 per class, when paid by the month *

Two or more classes per week: $3.50 per class, when paid by the month *

Drop-ins (anyone attending less than a full month of classes) are $6.00 per class.

Information For all Courses

​

• No partner required

• Wear casual layered clothing

• Bring a water bottle and small towel

• Shoe Policy: Carry with you some non-marking, flat, flexible, closed-toe/heel/instep shoes that slide easily on the floor but provide sufficient traction to be safe when turning.  Please plan to change into your dance shoes upon arrival. This helps Dennis Council on Aging and Senior Center keep their flooring clean and in great shape for everyone to enjoy.  Not permitted in class:  sandals, mules/slides/clogs, platforms, slingbacks, heels.  Please make sure your shoes have some means of staying on your foot (tie or strap). Floor conditions vary from classroom to classroom and can be affected by humidity and other factors.  Some students carry a dance bag with more than one type of shoe so they can match their choice of shoes to the current floor conditions.

• How to join?  Come to class a few minutes early with water bottle and shoes in hand.  Change into your shoes, sign in, make payment, and you’re ready to dance!

Level 2 Prep Graduation Workshop  

Designed with Level 2 Prep dancers in mind, this 45 minute workshop is your chance to experience a trial Level 2 class!  Feel the pace, double check your understanding of the current rotation of dances, and wrap up the workshop with a sense of confidence as you graduate into the Level 2 program.  Congratulations!

Prerequisite:  Designed for dancers who have completed the 6-month Level 2 Prep course in Harwich or Chatham
